After breaking up with her bad-news boyfriend, Reagan O’Neill is ready to leave her rebellious ways behind. . . and her best friend, country superstar Lilah Montgomery, is nursing a broken heart of her own. Fortunately, Lilah’s 24-city tour is about to kick off, offering a perfect opportunity for a girls-only summer of break-up ballads and healing hearts. But when Matt Finch joins the tour as its opening act, his boy-next-door charm proves difficult for Reagan to resist, despite her vow to live a drama-free existence. This summer, Reagan and Lilah will navigate the ups and downs of fame and friendship as they come to see that giving your heart to the right person is always a risk worth taking. A fresh new voice in contemporary romance, Emery Lord’s gorgeous writing hits all the right notes.

Open Road Summer is the book I’ve been longing to read for some time now, I just needed to wait until the perfect time to do so. Finally, as the cooler weather started to come in and the leaves began to fall, I decided it was time I take a trip back to the sweet innocence of summer. And what better way to do so than to curl up with a good book?
Open Road Summer is the contemporary that you MUST read! Emery Lord takes you on a journey across the country in a tour bus with two best friends, Delilah Montgomery & Reagan O’Neill, and a melt in your mouth singer, Matt Finch.
The friendship between Dee and Reagan is honestly one of the best aspects of the book. They complement each other perfectly and stick with each other through all the good and the bad. Sure, they have their fights, but that only makes their friendship stronger. I love that even though Dee has become a famous singer, she doesn’t let the stardom take away from who she really is. It only makes her more determined to stay true to her true self. She is the type of starlet young girls this day and age need to admire and look up to. She’s able to remain grounded and remember that she wouldn’t be where she is without all of her fans. Now, Reagan has a tough girl persona going on, but she lets her guard down whenever she is with Dee. These two put together make an awesome team. It’s the perfect literary friendship, in my opinion.
Let’s be honest. This wouldn’t be a perfect summer read if it didn’t have a little eye candy. Drumroll please…..
Matt Finch! Ladies and gentlemen!
What a sweetheart! I am such a sucker for a gentleman who rocks the Levis and a guitar. He’s the summertime surprise Reagan was not expecting. Their journey is one that sucked me in the minute Matt walked into Dee & Reagan’s hotel room. Even though both Reagan and Matt had their own issues they were dealing with, they ended up healing and helping each other. They continually pushed each other, which resulted in Reagan finally taking down the barriers she worked so hard to build. They became the best thing for one another. And oh my heavens, I could read another book about Matt & Reagan.
The book had me laughing, it had me teary eyed, and it had me feeling as if I were on this journey with them. I loved every minute of it. Emery Lord’s writing is a style I most definitely enjoyed and I am so excited to read more from her.
Emery, you have a new fan in me & I can not wait to read your next book.
