The one passion they had in common was the one that would keep them apart.
Artist Sienna Sacchi is about to have everything she’s ever dreamed of, when sexy playboy Jack Montgomery comes strolling back into her life as the owner of her gallery. Her plan to buy it herself ruined, she refuses to let him interfere with the most important thing—her debut exhibition. But Jack’s not just taking over her workplace, he’s also intruding on her art studio, her home, and maybe even her heart.
Jack Montgomery has few rules for his carefree life, but never mixing business with pleasure is one he is determined to keep. He’d planned on finally satisfying the tension between him and Sienna, but discovering he’s her boss puts an immediate end to that. Unfortunately, being forced to share a tiny apartment with the gorgeous, tempting sculptor is pushing Jack to his limits. One brush with desire could ruin everything they’ve worked for.

My Thoughts. . .
Brushing Off the Boss is the second book in the Half Moon Bay series, but can be read as a stand alone.
I enjoyed the first book, Tangling with the CEO and was happy to revisit the characters in Brushing Off the Boss, while getting to know a few a little more than others. I really enjoyed the dynamics of this story with Sienna and Jack’s constant back and forth with whether or not they should be friends, enemies, or simply co-workers.
Sienna, artist and hopeful gallery owner, gets a big surprise when Jack Montgomery comes back into town after 2 years away. These two first met in Tangling with the CEO, but it seems that this meeting is the first that has taken place since that first meeting. Sienna is not too happy when she finds out her plans to buy the Sea View Gallery have been shattered by Jack, whom happens to own the gallery and had his lawyers stop the sell to Sienna.
When Jack and Sienna discover what has happened, they make a compromise. Sienna agrees to work for Jack for two weeks and he can live in her empty apartment at her house for two weeks. Sounds like a breeze, right?
Of course, this proves not to be a breeze when the chemistry & attraction between these two keeps coming between that boss/employee relationship. And after giving into each other for one night, ends up opening the door to a whole lot more the following morning.
What comes next for the story comes as a huge shock to both the reader and Sienna. It’s a plot twist I did not see coming, but affected the story in a way that I truly enjoyed.
The ending couldn’t have been more perfect. I felt the pacing of the story, especially after the plot twist was revealed, went at a perfect pace and allowed for any questions I may have had to be answered. I truly enjoyed the development of this story and the relationship that formed between Sienna and Jack. I can’t wait to see what Annie Seaton has in store for her readers next!
Four out of five stars.
