Four months ago, my aunt passed after battling cancer. She spent 50 wonderful years living life to the absolute fullest. She was my inspiration. She still is.
Three months ago, I launched a project straight from my heart – Books For A Cause. I had a goal of raising $2,000 for the Stand Up To Cancer Organization in her memory. To start the fundraiser off, I held a Read A Thon in which readers signed up to participate by pledging to read a number of books in the matter of two weeks. The readers would then ask for friends or family to sponsor them. I was blown away that people actually wanted to participate and help me kick this fundraiser off. All while this event was taking place, I was working hard with a fellow blogger (Tonya @ LilyBloomBooks) to gather auctions items. This is where I was really blown away. So many authors showered me with their words of encouragement and support. They donated signed books, swag, and more!
Sure, the auction went on longer than I originally had planned, but that’s okay! It was a success!
Now, here we are three months later and while my overall goal hasn’t been reached [yet], I am still amazed at the support I’ve received from friends, family, and strangers.
To date, $1,125 has been raised and donated directly to Stand Up To Cancer.
I am humbled by your love and support to help me with Books For A Cause. I had no idea that this little project would be this successful and I could not have done it without YOU. So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Thank you for your encouragement, your guidance, your willingness to help me spread the word, and for believing in me.
I am not finished though. I really believe we can reach my goal of $2,000. I am considering hosting another auction, but would need more donations. I am open to other options though.
So, if you have any suggestions, please let me know! If you think another auction is a good idea….let me know!
The donation site is still up and running!
