We’re celebrating the release of A GIRL LIKE ME by Ginger Scott! Readers have fallen in love with these characters!
I’m not supposed to be here.
Death has come for me more than once, and each time it’s been a boy who’s
stood between me and my final breath.
I called him Christopher when he saved me as a child. When he came into my
life again, only months ago, I knew him as Wes. Just as he did the time
before, he disappeared the moment he made sure I was out of harm’s way; as
if I didn’t need any more saving.
This time, though, death left me with a reminder of how powerful it is. I
know it meant to strip me of my spirit again, but it failed.
Even so, I know I need Wes to survive. Our souls are woven together
somehow, our every breath in sync. I feel it, even though everyone says I
The world thinks he’s missing.
His loved ones don’t want to believe he’s dead.
Only I know just how special he is.
I’m going to find him and bring him home, where he belongs. Together,
we’ll face impossible—we’ll rewrite our ending.
And when the bad guys come calling, we will always win.
After finishing A Boy Like You a few months ago, I was anxiously waiting for the release of the companion novel and hoping very much so to feel the same way I did when reading A Boy Like You. Fortunately, Ginger Scott didn’t make the wait too terribly long for her loyal readers and I immediately dove in and continued on with Joss’ journey in A Girl Like Me.
I can honestly say that it was worth every month, week, day until Ginger was ready to release this book out in the world. She did not disappoint and I was completely satisfied with the outcome of the story and of the characters. It’s not all the time one can say that about a sequel or even a series of books. There’s always something we wish the author would have included or done differently, but that is not the case with the Like Us series. Both books were so well written and the stories were told so beautifully through the voice of Joss. My only complaint?….I WANT MORE! Perhaps even a book in Wes’ POV? Just saying…:)
While there were some unexpected twists and turns in A Girl Like Me that I was absolutely not expecting, they were surprises that I embraced and felt just right for the story and the direction it was heading. The development of the characters, especially our leading lady – Joss, were true to the character and the story itself. I love to watch a character grow and to watch this character specially throughout these two books was a great journey, as a reader, to be apart of.
The chemistry, the passion, the genuine emotions between the characters was absolutely captivating for me as a reader. I hung onto every word, every feeling, every thing between them and I love that!
If you’re a contemporary fiction (YA/NA) fan and have yet to read these books, or any of Ginger Scott’s books for that matter, then get to it! You won’t be disappointed. I promise.
