Who would have thought that a teenager could have a successful career creating makeup tutorial videos on YouTube? For Lacey Robbins, this dream has been her reality. An up-and-coming YouTuber, she has thousands of fans and can't wait for the day when her subscriber count reaches the one million mark. And when she is offered a high school internship at On Trend Magazine, she figures that this could be the make it or break it moment.

But sometimes your dream job isn't all that it seems. Her editor is only interested in promoting junk products, and her boss in the Hair and Makeup department introduces her to the larger world of makeup artistry, making her wonder if making tutorials online is all she is meant to do. To top it all off, when the magazine's feature subject , musician Tyler Lance, turns his broodingly handsome smile her way, falling for him could mean losing her fans, forcing her to make a decision: her YouTube life or her real life?

Fans of Zoella's GIRL ONLINE will fall right into the world of this YA DEVIL WEARS PRADA and stay hooked from the first blush to the last glossy kiss.

LaceyBlushes is a beauty vlogger on Youtube with big dreams. When she gets the chance of a lifetime to intern with On Trend magazine for the summer, she begins to prepare to work hard to make her dreams come true by finally reaching a million followers and to be offered a contract with Glasscube to become the next big Youtube sensation. That’s LaceyBlushes. But who is Lacey…the girl behind the Youtube channel? The girl behind the makeup?

When she gets to her first day at On Trend, she’s hoping the special guest they will be working with is someone who loves makeup and can really help push her to earn those coveted subscribers. However, that’s not the case. Lacey finds out that she, along with two other vloggers, will be working with Tyler Lance, the former boyband sensation who is making a solo comeback. Is Tyler really the arrogant rockstar the tabloids have made it out to be? That’s for Lacey to find out, even though she really doesn’t want to.

When Lacey first meets Tyler, he is exactly what she expected, but the more she gets to know him, the more she starts to realize that there is more than to Tyler Lance than the media and everyone else thinks. The more time they spend together, even though it is mostly spent doing vlog interviews, the more their relationship grows from just acquaintances to friendship to even more.

I really enjoyed this book and the approach Summer took in the terms of the vlogger meets the musician. Of course, I’m a sucker for any book that has a musician in it. There was definitely more to the Tyler character than just his music career. For instance, his love of cooking and the genuine way in which he cared for his family, his little sister especially. It was nice to know he wasn’t just some one dimensional singer with an attitude and a list of demands. As for Lacey, I was proud of her personal growth in the story. Realizing that perhaps all the glory and fame wasn’t all that it was chalked up to be and that her families problems, weren’t necessarily her own. I was very obvious that Lacey and Tyler helped each other, whether they meant to or not.

This was definitely a fun contemporary read! I enjoyed the storyline and the characters, especially their development as the story went on. I will definitely be looking forward to more books by Beth Ellyn Summer and wouldn’t object to another one involving Tyler Lance. 🙂

Happy reading!
