We’re celebrating the release of HOLD MY BREATH by Ginger Scott!
Check out the review, teasers, and giveaway below!
Fractions of seconds can do lots of damage. One decision can ruin lives. A blink can be tragic. And loving a Hollister…can hurt like hell.
I would know.
They say the average person can hold their breath under water for two full minutes when pushed to the extremes. Will Hollister has been holding his for years. The oldest of two elite swimming brothers, Will was always a dominant force in the water. But in life, he preferred to let his younger
brother Evan be the one to shine.
Evan got the girl, and Will…he got to bury all of the secrets. A brother’s burden, the weight of it all nearly left him to drown.
The daughter of two Olympians, my path was set the day my fingertips first touched water. My future was as crystal clear as the lane I dominated in the pool—swim hard, win big, love a Hollister.
My life with Evan burned bright. He gave me arms to come home to, and a smile that fooled the world into believing everything was perfect. But it was Will who pushed me. Will…who really knew me.
And when all of the pieces fell, it was Will who started to pick them up.
In the end, the only thing that matters are those few precious seconds—and what we decide to do while we still have them in our grasp.
I say it every time I sit down to write a review for one of Ginger Scott’s books, however, this time is a bit different. I finished this book the other night and instantly found myself suffering from what avid readers call a book hangover. I’ve loved all of Ginger’s books that I’ve read, but this one….this one really, really took hold of me and left me wanting so badly to read more. It was perfection! I felt every emotion it seemed like. I laughed. I cried. I was angry, grinning like a lovestruck teenager, and absolutely enthralled with the storyline and characters created by Ginger.
Will carries the weight of the world on his shoulders. Tragic events keep he weighed down, but when he is in the pool, they are what motivate him to swim harder. Faster.
Maddy is training for the Olympic trials. Being coached by her father who has some Olympic medals of his own. However, when a ghost from her past comes to train along side her, Maddy must battle the heartbreak she’s buried deep the past four years.
Will and Maddy, both, have a lot of demons to overcome. Will being the sole survivor of a plane crash that killed his parents and his brother, must push through all of the hardships that came from his guilt over surviving. Maddy, struggles to look at Will without seeing his brother, Evan, who also happened to be her boyfriend. However, despite their challenges, they quickly realize that they are what motivate one another in the pool. They push each other to work harder, swim faster, and possibly even beat their own records. There’s something holding Will back though and when Maddy discovers the secrets he’s been hiding to protect her, must decide whether or not she will let it ruin the relationship between them for a second time.
Hold My Breath makes you do just that while you’re reading it. You want so badly for Will to come out the other side feeling restored and able to move past the tragedy that has held him under water for the past four years. It’s a heartbreaking story for some many reasons. This is a life filled book and by that I mean that this book shows the devastatingly heartbreaking side of life along with the breathtaking beautiful side. It’s a journey for both Will and Maddy, individually and together. How Scott was able to captivate such a beautiful storyline so perfectly is beyond me. This truly is my favorite book of hers and if you’ve followed my past reviews of her book, you know I usually say that about each of them. However, I mean it with this one. I hope that there is more from Will Hollister in the future, for his story is one that I’d happily read time and again.
