I’m that teenaged girl who has MS. You haven’t met me, but you’ve seen me around. You probably know my sister. We’re twins, and she’s the pretty one. Maybe you’ve heard about my reputation, how much I like to hook up at parties—how easy it is to get me in bed, get what you want, and forget about me after.Forget what you think you know. I’m leaving that girl behind.College is all about new beginnings. So from now on—I’m just Cass. And the rest…it isn’t written yet. And no one else gets to write my story for me.
——–“Tyson Preeter doesn’t do can’t.”
That’s exactly what I want people to think when they see me. I am strong, invincible, confident, intelligent—arrogant. I’m the man who always finds a way around, over and through—until there’s nothing left. Since losing my ability to walk six years ago, I’ve relearned life. I don’t need sympathy. I don’t want charity. And I don’t do love.
It’s better this way, saves my disappointments for me, and me alone, and it saves my strength for everything I want.
But Cass Owens is about to wreck everything. She’s about to steal all of my strength away from me, because she needs it more. She’s about to break all of my rules, and break down all of my walls. She’s about to own me…completely.
And I’m about to let her.
*This is book 2 in The Falling Series.
After reading book #1 in the Falling series, I immediately fell in love with the characters developed by Ginger Scott. After learning about book #2, You and Everything After, I was ecstatic to get to know more about Ty & Cass. The love stories that Scott pens are incredibly captivating. I love how she is able to capture my full attention from the very first sentence all the way to the closing period. If you haven’t read This is Falling yet, I highly recommend you do so. And as soon as you finish it, move on to You and Everything After. Both stories are sure to leave your heart swelling with love & anxious for more.
Even though book #2 is about Ty & Cass rather than Nate & Rowe, who are from book#1, I love how the timelines match up. I’ve never before read two books that have simultaneous time lines allowing a look at various characters from various perspectives. The small glimpses for Nate & Rowe were also pleasing to me, especially since I loved them so much in book #1.
But, let’s not forget that this is all about Ty & Cass. Two people who are facing two different challenges in their lives, but are able to help each other in ways both seemed unimaginable.Ty is a go-getter. He’s intelligent, strong, & has already overcome so much in his life. After losing his ability to walk in a freak accident, he’s had to relearn how to go about his life & how to love himself again. With his sarcasm and wit, he’s never been one to keep his thoughts to himself. He’s had to become the backbone for his brother and parents, despite his spinal cord injury. His willingness to overcome is what helps motivate Cass to overcome her own life changes.
Cass, a college freshman, who was diagnosed with MS and had to give up playing soccer to appease her parents just wants to feel normal. When she moves away from her California lifestyle, she doesn’t just leave her parents behind, but a past that she’s none to proud of. After meeting Ty, who also happens to be her personal trainer at the colleges gym and the brother of her roommates crush/boyfriend, she finds the strength to overcome difficulties & to change the way she sees herself.
The way these two lives intertwine is a major reason of why I love this story so much. I admire both Ty & Cass for overcoming so much at such a young age. They are the type of characters that anyone can relate to, no matter how big or small the similarities may be. They are inspirational and touch on situations that everyday people, especially young adults, struggle to cope with. I love any author who is able to write about and touch on such difficult subjects. I also love how Scott doesn’t “lay it on thin” and is able to be honest about these topics, but also remain sensitive to them.
There is no doubt in my mind that Ginger Scott will blow me away in the third book in the Falling series. I already cannot wait to read more about these characters and to get to know new ones. Scott has easily become one of my new favorite authors & I hope to read more from her in the coming months as I work my way through my monstrous TBR pile.
If there is one thing I can tell you about book 1 & 2 of the Falling series, know that you will come out of it in love with the Preeter brothers.
Five out of five stars.
