Dakota Halifax loves to be in love. In fact, as one of Las Vegas’s premier wedding planners, she’s built a whole career around romance. Which is why her own wedding has to be nothing short of perfect. And then her fiancé jilts her. While she’s waiting in her wedding dress. On a cruise ship already out at sea.Once back on dry land, Dakota tries to pour her heart into her business and weekly wedding advice column, Get Ready to Wed. But how can the heartbroken celebrate others’ true love? When she reconnects with her childhood best friend, surprisingly sexy and all-grown-up casino bouncer Brendan West, Dakota wonders if maybe she can fall back in love with being in love.
But then her ex reappears, begging for another chance, and suddenly Dakota questions if she’ll ever understand love. Can someone once-burned and twice-shy ever find her way down the aisle again?
Thank you to the author, Cindi Madsen, for allowing me to read an eARC of Ready to Wed in exchange for an honest review.
What a book! And I mean that in the absolute best way possible.
I laughed. I swooned. I felt everything Dakota felt.
This wasn’t my first book by Cindi Madsen and it most certainly won’t be my last. Just like the first book I read by Madsen, I found myself lost in the story and struggling to put it down. Which is a HUGE compliment considering I was vacationing in England when I decided to dive into Ready to Wed.
Ready to Wed is funny, heartwarming, romantic, and captivating after only the first few pages. I was distraught when Dakota returned from what was suppose to be one of the most spectacular days of her life with nothing but a broken heart. But swooned as soon as Brendan walked through the door asking for his old friend, “DJ”.
I loved that it wasn’t just a random guy coming in to “save the day”, but a long lost childhood friend who knew her inside and out. It just made the whole journey for Dakota that much more romantic, in my opinion. Dakota is such a strong, independent woman who has a lot of spunk and determination. She works hard to make all of her brides BIG DAY the most magical day possible. I admire her for pushing through and continuing on even after her own big day turned out to be nothing but a bad day.
As for Brendan. Oh my, what a looker! He’s protective, supportive, funny, and easy on the eyes. The chemistry between Brendan and Dakota is definitely there and makes you, the reader, anxious for more.
This is a contemporary romance you don’t want to miss! It comes out July 22nd, so go ahead and add it to your TBR list!
Five out of five stars.
