Country veterinarian Celia Gamble is in trouble. A misunderstanding from her past is rearing its ugly head and the only person she can turn to is Jonah Clarke—her family’s lawyer and, as it turns out, her brother’s best friend and her childhood crush. She always wanted Jonah to see her as a bona fide woman, but as a woman who’s being blackmailed for seducing a married man? Not on her life.
Jonah is happy to help Little CeeCee Gamble, if only she’d come clean about why she’s being blackmailed. But with his best friend Zach’s wedding on the horizon, and Zach’s fashionista fiancée Desiree giving CeeCee a makeover, the little duckling Jonah remembers is turning into a definite swan. And the unwritten law on sisters is clear—hands off. Jonah must resist or lose the only true family he’s ever known.
I received and eARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
The fourth book in Roxanne Snopek’s Three River Ranch series, Resisting the Rancher, is a fun romantic read that will bring you into the lives of a hot lawyer/rancher named Jonah and a feisty veterinarian named Celia. Now, these two have a history, but not one you’d expect. Jonah is Celia’s older brother’s best friend and Celia’s childhood crush. Now that Celia is all grown up and back home where she opens her own veterinary practice, Jonah is suddenly realizing that Celia is no longer a little girl. In fact, she’s grown to be quite that catch and upon seeing each other for the first time in years, Jonah finds himself eyeing his best friend’s little sister.
The chemistry between Jonah and Celia is very apparent throughout the story and as they go on their own individual journey of soul searching. Celia really just wants to be seen as someone other than CeeCee, the young girl who used to follow her brother and his friends around and it takes Jonah for her family, especially her brother, to finally see her as the beautiful woman she has become.
Celia confides in Jonah and allows him to see a different side to her, someone other than the girl who wears quirky t-shirts with fun slogans surrounding her love for veterinarian medicine.
Jonah and Celia are characters that you can relate to, dealing with real-life situations that captivate the reader, heart and soul.
I truly enjoyed this journey I took with Jonah and Celia and I would recommend anyone who loves a good romantic read to take a chance with Roxanne Snopek’s Three River Ranch series.
4 out of 5 stars.
