Heather and I felt a bit like Indiana Jones on the quest for the Holy Grail, felt a little like Atreyu trying to answer the riddles of the Sphinx in The Never Ending Story, felt as though we were being asked to accomplish a mythical task like getting 7 angels to dance on the head of a pin. What was our behest, do you ask? Picking JUST ten books that make you swoon!!
Heather and Christie’s Top Ten
1. Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen
Thank you, Jane Austen. For when living in an era without electricity or running water or pedicures, still, you equipped us with the material to swoon. Darcy is the stuff by which all other men are measured.
2. City of Bones by Cassandra Clare
Or as we like to refer to it……City of Boners. Cassie Clare, runes aren’t the only thing in this book burned into skin. We are forever imprinted by Clary and Jace.
3. Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
People can poke fun at vampires that sparkle, but millions of fangirls spanning the ages of 11 to 65 don’t lie. Atomic bomb level swoonage.
4. Any of the Morganville Vampire books by Rachel Caine
Two words…….Shane Collins. If I try to elaborate, you’d be here for hours. To read him, is to love him. Do so IMMEDIATELY!
5. Just One Day by Gayle Forman
A swoon-worthy read that you will devour in just a matter of hours. How can one not swoon over a book set in the romantic city of Paris?
6. Along For The Ride by Sarah Dessen
And boy, were we! Again, being asked to pick which Sarah Dessen book is the swooniest would be like asking Edward from Twilight to pick his favorite plasmic nightcap if Bella was an identical quintuplet. Forgive the cross literature metaphors.
7. Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick
A dark, broody and gorgeous fallen angel. The real sin would be not falling for Patch.
8. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
Again, a book set in the romantic city of Paris. But the main swoon-tastic part of this book would be the boy, Etienne. OH and being at a boarding school WITH the boy.
9. Where She Went by Gayle Forman
We challenge you to read this book and not have the undeniable urge to stretch out like a cello and have Adam bow your strings. A novel that makes classical instruments sexy has next level swoonage.
10. Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
Despite any rumblings you may hear about the current movie production of this book, hips don’t lie and neither does the book. It won’t take a lust spell to get you to fall for Dmitri. He had us at the duster.
What better thing to do on this Tuesday preceding the annual day of love, but find a literary couple to swoon over!! We prescribe all ten of this fabulous reads!!
