Top Ten Tuesday | Ten Books That Will Make You Cry

toptentuesday

They are out there. Whether they sneak up like ninjas and ginsu open the floodgates in your tear ducts, or you purchase a box of Kleenex with the novel, this week’s Top Ten Tuesday deals with the books that make us cry. These are ten of our greatest, but we wanted you to be forewarned, so we developed the following rating system to cover everything from the lone tear cry to a flow of saline and mucus that requires that you be sprayed down with a hose.

1. The Single Tear Ms. America Cry 2. Rudolph the Red Nosed Rain Tears

3. Turn Your Eyelashes Into Scary Spiders Ugly Cry 4. Struggling Not to Open a Vein

1. Maybe One Day by Melissa Kantor

I thought I was mentally and emotionally prepared when I dove into this one. Little did I know that I would be left hugging a box of tissues and battling a couple hiccups from the tears this one gave me. I am a sucker for a books with strong female friendships and this one had just that. And then some. Brace yourself.

2. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

Do I really need to explain why this made the list?

Augustus Waters.

ALL THE FEELS.

Okay? Okay.

3. New Moon by Stephanie Meyer49041

Oh come on. I can’t be the only one that cried the very first time I read this. Maybe it was the fact I, myself, had just experienced a breakup and I was a little vulnerable or I allowed myself to get too attached to Edward and Belle. Or maybe both? Regardless, the very FIRST time I read New Moon, I needed some Ben & Jerry’s afterwards.

1274514. Don’t Die, My Love by Lurlene McDaniel

I remember exactly where I was when I read this. Curled up in my dorm room freshman year and sobbing like a baby. My roommate thought I was insane and ended up laughing at me for how hard I was crying. Don’t worry, I got my revenge when she ended up reading it and had the same reaction.
Oh, and any Lurlene McDaniel book will have you reaching for a box of tissues. But they’re just so good I can’t make myself stop.

5. Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare

Will. Jem. Tessa. O my heart!

Read it. You’ll understand. It’s by far one of the most emotional conclusions to any series I’ve ever read.

Christie’s Top Five

ifistay-paperback 1. If I Stay by Gayle Forman

Oh Adam and Mia. It’s bad enough that you sucked me into your love story and made me giggly and girly over it. THEN, you made me cry.

All The Feels, indeed.

4. Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

TFIOS killed me!!! I can’t wait to see that in the movie theaters… oh wait then I’m just going to ugly cry in public like I did those 3 times I saw Titanic in HS. Maybe One Day looks sad… and good. I wasn’t a big fan of one of Melissa Kantor’s other books, but hopefully I’ll like this better. I know the other book wasn’t an emotional one at all, so I’ll probably have a better experience with it!! Less than 4 months to BEA!!! How freaking excited are you getting!!!!

I ugly cry every time I watch Titanic and I’ve probably seen it at least a thousand times. TFIOS is going to be one of those movies where no makeup will be allowed and a box of tissues will be along side my bag of popcorn. Last movie I sobbed like a baby in the theater to was Remember Me. Now that was an ugly cry..
I am a sucker for strong female friendships and Maybe One Day had just that. Be sure to have the tissues on standby when you read it.

So excited for BEA! We’ll be buying our plane tickets very soon! Can’t wait to meet you.
