Series: Suddenly Smitten #1
Published by Entangled: Bliss on March 11, 2013
Liza Sutherland isn’t looking for love. Not from a charity-auction date she didn’t even bid on and especially not with Nationals first baseman Cole Collins, the guy she obsessed over as an awkward teenager. She won’t get involved with a notorious player, no matter how attractive Cole is.
Cole Collins is up for contract renegotiation, but after too many late-night parties, he’ll need some positive publicity before he can make the roster. His agent, Frank, pitches Liza as the perfect prop…only Cole didn’t account for Liza no longer being just a teenager with a crush. She’s gorgeous and smart and he’s instantly hooked.
When Frank makes Liza a deal she can’t refuse—a bet she will fall in love with Cole or a cool half mil goes to charity—the game is on. But neither bet on the real feelings that surface. Could a fake fling turn into an official forever?
I first read the second book in the Suddenly Smitten series, Tempted in the Tropics, and loved it! Going back and reading The Practice Proposal was a must. I just love how these books can be read as a stand alone or as a series. Each book brings it’s own heat to the table and leaves the reader wanting more from the author. Tracy March takes us on an adventure with a hot and sexy baseball player named Cole, that is sure to leave you a little red in the face just picturing him in those tight baseball pants. 😉 We are also introduced to Liza, who is still grieving over the death of her fiancé.
This is certainly a “mother knows best” story because when Liza mysteriously wins an auction to go on a date with Cole, all fingers point to her mother being the culprit. Mrs. Sutherland won’t deny it either! She knows it’s just the shove Liza needs to get back in the game.
It was fun to tag along with these two on the romantic dates Cole plans and see them fall in love with one another. There are a few curve balls thrown their way, but hang tight, this read is sure to be a grand slam! (Pun intended.)
I can’t wait to read what Tracy March comes up with next, hopefully something that has a little more Cole in it because who wouldn’t want a little more visual imagery of a hot baseball player in that sexy uniform?
This was also a fun read for me, especially since I visited DC the week before reading this. It was fun to visualize some of the locations in the book and actually feel as if I were in the story with Liza and Cole. And since I read the second book first, I was happy to read about a familiar face, Paige.
If you’re a fan of Bliss books, this one is sure to keep you wanting more.
5 out of 5 stars!
