Angelle Prejean is in a pickle. Her family is expecting her to come home with a fiancé—a fiancé who doesn’t exist. Well, he exists, but he definitely has no idea Angelle told her mama they were engaged. Tattooed, muscled, and hotter than sin, Cane can reduce Angelle to a hot mess with one look—and leave her heart a mess if she falls for him. But when she ends up winning Cane at a charity bachelor auction, she knows just how to solve her fiancé problem.
Cane Robicheaux is no one’s prince. He doesn’t do relationships and he doesn’t fall in love. When sweet, sultry-voiced Angelle propositions him, he hopes their little game can finally get her out of his head. He doesn’t expect her to break through all his barriers. But even as Angelle burrows deeper into his heart, he knows once their seven days are up, so is their ruse.
What I Thought. . .
Uh….can I bottle Cane up and keep him? Seriously! The tattoo clad, restaurant owning, “city” boy stole my heart along with Angelle’s. From the moment Cane and Angelle got together, regardless of the circumstance, the chemistry was apparent and I wanted nothing more than for them to set their worries aside and give into the temptation. Thank goodness they did! This story was such a fun read and one that took me no time to get through. I didn’t want it to end! I loved the characters, the pace of the story, and all the other elements. It was so richly developed that I now, more then ever, want to take a trip down to Cajun country.
I loved Angelle and how she left her hometown to start living her own life without her parents and older siblings looming over her. That act alone shows her strength and determination. After ending a very long 8 year relationship, in front of pretty much the entire town, she knew she had to leave and find herself. But of course, her family still tries to loom over her, even though she lives in a different town. What does she do? Oh, you know, fake an engagement to none other than Cane.
Cane, oh Cane. I am not sure there are enough words to describe how much I love Cane. He is no stranger to one night stands, but there is just something about Angelle that he can’t get past. When she comes to him with this crazy proposition to pretend to be her fiancé for Thanksgiving, he gladly agrees. Not aware that spending this one week together, pretending to be engaged and in love, will change their lives forever.
Once they got to Angelle’s hometown, I loved how quickly Cane and Angelle fell into step with one another. They complimented one another and quickly began to develop real feelings for one another. Their chemistry couldn’t be faked.
As the story played out, I couldn’t help but get lost in it. I loved every minute of it and found myself cheering them on. And the ending…oh my GAHHH! How perfect!
There is nothing I want more than more from Cane and Angelle. So how ’bout it Rachel? 🙂
A well deserved 5 stars!
