(Summary from Goodreads)
Set over the course of one school year in 1986, ELEANOR AND PARK is the story of two star-crossed misfits – smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try. When Eleanor meets Park, you’ll remember your own first love – and just how hard it pulled you under.
I have no idea what took me so long to read this, but man am I glad I finally did! Eleanor & Park was such a refreshing read and unlike anything I have recently read. I couldn’t get enough of it. I so much wanted it to go on and on, but every good book has to come to an end. And maybe it was just me, but I couldn’t help but think that this book would have made an excellent John Hughes film. This is a book that’ll make you laugh, cry, want to cuss (in a good & bad way) and so much more. I couldn’t get enough of the not so perfect relationship between Eleanor & Park.
I honestly feel like I am doing a terrible job of describing to you how much I enjoyed this book. I loved the writing, the plot, the characters…everything. It was nothing I expected it to be. This book is positively magical in it’s own way, shape, and form. If you haven’t read it or plan on reading it, do it. It’s an absolutely must read!
5 out of 5 stars!
