REVIEW: Revenge of the Girl with the Great Personality by Elizabeth Eulberg
|Published March 1st 2013 by Point
Summary from Goodreads:
Don’t mess with a girl with a great personality!
Everybody loves Lexi. She’s popular, smart, funny…but she’s never been one of those girls, the pretty ones who get all the attention from guys. And on top of that, her seven-year-old sister, Mackenzie, is a terror in a tiara, and part of a pageant scene where she gets praised for her beauty (with the help of fake hair and tons of makeup).
Lexi’s sick of it. She’s sick of being the girl who hears about kisses instead of getting them. She’s sick of being ignored by her longtime crush, Logan. She’s sick of being taken for granted by her pageant-obsessed mom. And she’s sick of having all her family’s money wasted on a phony pursuit of perfection. The time has come for Lexi to step out from the sidelines. Girls without great personalities aren’t going to know what hit them. Because Lexi’s going to play the beauty game – and she’s in it to win it.
Wow, wow, wow. Just wow. Elizabeth Eulberg does it again. She has a way of relating to her readers by creating a story that is witty, honest, and very humbling. I personally don’t have a connection with pageants, but I can relate to the idea of being yourself and not conforming to the ‘cool crowd’. I truly believe that this is a story all young girls should read, especially during their early high school years. I personally wish this book had been around when I was entering high school, but even now, as a young adult, I can still take a lot from this story and appreciate the struggles and the growth that Lexi experiences in Revenge of the Girl with the Great Personality.
The book not only has a strong main character, but the support of two fabulous best friends who help remind you that even though you may not have a multitude of friends, just having those two special people can help you through every day struggles.
This is a fabulous and quick read. Elizabeth Eulberg has yet again, created a story that I am sure to recommend to anyone and read it again and again. I hope that girls of every age read it and understand that you don’t have to be a beauty queen to really be beautiful and that there is nothing wrong with having a great personality.
5 of 5 stars!
