MONTHLY READS: April 2013

April was a busy month for Turning Pages! I celebrated my 22nd birthday and got wrapped up in the final weeks of this semester of college. And Christie joined the blog! We are so excited about this and so excited to share our love of books with everyone. If you’ve read our About Us page, you know we live far away from each other, but in just 4 weeks we will finally be reunited for a weekend! We are both hard at work getting posts ready for you guys and reading as well as balancing our every day lives. So, to wrap up the month of April, here is our monthly round-up!

I ended March by diving into book two [Underworld] in Meg Cabot’s Abandon Trilogy.I loved reading Princess Diaries when I was younger and I absolutely love this trilogy. It’s dark and mysterious, but has a story line that keeps you wanting more. The final book, Awaken, comes out July 2nd of this year!
I then had the opportunity to read a novel by Elizabeth Guizzetti. Other Systems is an incredibly well thought out novel that takes you on a far off journey through outer space. You can read my full review here!

Christie dove into Gone with the Wolf, by Kristin Miller. We had the privilege of taking part in the cover reveal a few weeks ago! Stay tuned for Christie’s review coming soon!

Another one of Christie’s reads was Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn. We have a review coming soon!
We also had the chance to do a cover reveal for Tall, Dark, and Divine by Jenna Bennett. Along with a book tour for Covet, an Entangled imprint! The blog tour involved an interview with the author and a review! You can find the blog tour post here!
Next up, Christie and I both dove into the Shadowhunting world of Cassandra Clare. The final book in the Infernal Devices, Clockwork Princess, was astounding. Cassie Clare left us speechless and wanting more. We have both met Cassie and she is an incredible person and we hope to see her again soon! If you haven’t checked out her The Mortal Instrument series or The Infernal Devices, do it! The books, the story line, and the characters are addicting! Christie wrote an incredible review of Clockwork Princess the other day. You can read it here!

What are we currently reading?

Back in February, I read Bitter Blood by Rachel Caine. Christie is currently reading it and just about done! I am looking forward to talking Morganville Vampires with her. The next book is due out soon!

As for me, I am reading Richelle Mead’s next novel, Gameboard of the Gods, courtesy of NetGalley. [This is adult fiction due to mature content.] I am looking forward to posting my review of it soon!

Stay tuned! We’ve got some great posts coming soon! And don’t forget to check out the BOOK BLAST & GIVEAWAY featuring author Melissa Foster, going on NOW!

Happy reading!
Heather + Christie
