Format: Hardcover

For years, the human and vampire residents of Morganville, Texas, have managed to co-exist in peace. But now that the threat to the vampires has been defeated, the human residents are learning that the gravest danger they face is the enemy within…
Thanks to the eradication of the parasitic creatures known as the draug, the vampires of Morganville have been freed of their usual constraints. With the vampires indulging their every whim, the town’s human population is determined to hold on to their lives by taking up arms. But college student Claire Danvers isn’t about to take sides, considering she has ties to both the humans and the vampires.
To make matters worse, a television show comes to Morganville looking for ghosts, just as vampire and human politics collide. Now, Claire and her friends have to figure out how to keep the peace without ending up on the nightly news… or worse.

The Morganville Vampire series by Rachel Caine, is one that I might not have ever started reading if it weren’t for my cousin and best friend, Christie. Since we live several states away from one another, our favorite way of keeping in touch is sharing books with one another. We loan them on our kindles when we can, but our most favorite way is sending each other boxes full of books every now and then.
About two years ago, she sent me a box and in it was the first EIGHT books in this series. Yes, I said EIGHT. There is actually going to be a total of FIFTEEN! Now, don’t let that scare you because I came very close to letting it scare me away. But, I picked up the first in the series, Glass House, and now, THIRTEEN books in, I still can’t get enough.

Bitter Blood, the thirteenth book in the series, is one that left me feeling empty, but not in a bad way. The story seemed a little slower than the other books, but I felt it was vital to the story line. It has the usual Morganville humor and danger that gives you something to sink your teeth into. (Pun most definitely intended.:)

I really glad that I started reading this series. You’ll become part of the family that is Shane, Claire, Michael, and Eve. And trust me, the series flies by! I really can’t wait for the FOURTEENTH book to come out this May, Fall of Night.

The Morganville Vampire series puts a whole new spin on the vampire series that seem like a constant on the book shelves lately. It is full of twists and turns that leave you clinging to the pages and wanting to know what is happening. So, dive into the world of Morganville, Texas and enjoy, but I must warn you…..watch out for vampires. 😉

Four out of five stars.
