This past November, I attended the 2012 YALLFest in Charleston, SC. It was such an incredible experience and an even that I hope to be able to go to again next year. I met so many talented authors, many who have inspired me to become a writer as well. I won’t lie, I was overwhelmed with excitement as I approached the first panel of the day where I was in the presence of Cassandra Clare (my second time meeting her) and her literary friend, Holly Black. Their panel was about Literary Friendship, which really helped me understand how important it is to have someone who can help you through the writing process. I definitely have my literary friend in my cousin and dear friend, Christie.
I also was able to see Stephanie Perkins, Elizabeth Eulberg, Alyson Noel, Simone Elkeles, Jenny Han, and Kathryn Williams in the YA Girl Band panel. This panel was so much fun, it almost made me feel like I was sitting in a restaurant chatting aimlessly with a bunch of girl friends.
I met so many of my favorites and was able to chat a little and take pictures with them. Definitely an experience I will never forget and I guarantee those pictures will be framed and hung up in my office to serve as inspiration for my writing. Maybe one day I will be a YA author at YALLFest meeting the amazing readers that make it all possible.
I met so many others and had many, many more pictures, but if I posted all of them, this post would take a week to upload. I got books signed and I also got my Kindle case signed too! It definitely makes for an awesome keepsake and one I hope to add many other’s too.
HAPPY READING YALL! Can’t wait until YALLFest 2013!
